Pulp Fiction Posters with Poser and Photoshop
Written by Dean Velez

Well this isn't exactly about motion graphics...but it is about computer software and it's art related...

About 6 months back I decided I wanted to create some artwork to hang in my apartment...I was stumped for an idea of what I wanted to do until I came across this book at my local book store.

I was inspired to create some Pulp Fiction pieces for my walls...I decided I would create the pieces I want using Poser, Daz and Photoshop.

So

1. I purchased a bunch of models from Daz 3D and posed them in Poser.

2. I then used the smudge brush in Photoshop to blend the pixels and help soften them up.

3. Adjusted the levels and blend modes to punch the colors.

4. Used the Halftone effect set to 4 to create the printed magazine dots.

5. Added the texturizer effect set to sandstone and then to burlap to give the paper some tooth to it.

6. Finally I overlayed some old paper textures to age the pieces. The beat up paper textures were found online by googling paper textures. There were a few places giving away paper textures for free and a few that you can purchase textures from.

7.Ran over to Kinkos and blew them up to 24x36 and now I own 2 original Pulp Fiction Inspired Posters.

Below are links for models, paper textures and the final 2 posters.
