Holiday ID Example

I've been doing broadcast work for quite awhile...and one of my favorite things to create has always been the holiday ID. The only problem is there usually wassn't alot of time to focus on putting a quality ID together. Sooo...I decided to try and see how fast I could put a 10 second Thanksgiving Day ID together using some of the After Effects projects found in Ani Elements.

I can honestly say I was floored...4 hours...4 frikin hours! This type of animation would usually take me a few days to complete. Can't wait to see how the Christmas ID goes...

Below is a very loose list of what needed to be done to create this animation.

1. Adjust the Cloth Element 1 AEP to be orange and slow down the animation. Render this file.

2. Adjust the Nature Element 2 AEP so the movement is to your liking. Render this file with an alpha channel.

3. Bring Scary Element 4 and 5 into a new project. Turn off the blood and thorns. Adjust the effect so that it has a transparent background.

4. Take both elements into a new comp and duplicate them and reposition them to create a cool design. Add Happy Thanksgiving to it. Render this file with an alpha channel.

5. Bring Nuclear Elements 1, 2 and 3 into a new project. Place all 3 layers into a new comp and switch there transfer modes to screen. Render this file.

6. Ok, now that we have all of our file we can go ahead and composite them.

7. Start a new project. Bring all of the rendered files in.

8. Create a new comp.

9. Bring in the orange background.

10. Bring in the New Nuclear bkg and color it yellow, orange and gold.

11. bring in the Happy Thanksgiving design lines.

12. Set them up so the the Nuclear background is using them as a track matte.

13. Precompose the two files. Add the glow effect to it.

14. Bring in the leaves animation. duplicate it a few time and put some layers above the Happy Thanksgiving animation and some of them below the animation.

15. Drag in your Logo.

16. Drag in the Glow Element 1 AEP...you should have this rendered seperatly to help decrease render time on the final project.

17. Place this in the timeline below the logo. Duplicate it 2 or 3 times and adjust the duplicate layers rotation and scale. Change all of these layers transfer modes to screen.

18. duplicat one more and put it above the logo as an add mode.

19. A couple a tweeks here and there and BOOM!...Instant Thansgiving Day ID.
