Ani Elements Ex: St Patricks Day ID
Written by Dean Velez

Here is an example of what can be created with the St Patricks Day Ani Elements

The basic steps I went thru are as follows:

1. I imported all of the After Effects Projects into a new project file and set them all to render...It takes a few hours for everything to render so I set them up and started them right before going to bed. This way by the time I woke up they would all be ready for compositing.

2. I created a new solid for the background added a dark to light blue ramp to it and then stretched the heck out of it on the Y scale. Then I built a white cloud using the shape tool and blurred it with the fast blur. I duplicated this shape several times and placed them so that they created a series of clouds that took up vertical space. After that I parented them to the background and set positon keyframes for the background so that it looked like the scene was moving up. Then I imported the rendered Nature Element 6 ( Rainbow ) footage and angled it and scaled it so it looked like it was traveling upwards. I also moved it under some of the clouds to create a layered feeling. The next step was to create an animated texture for it. This was acheived by adding fractal noise to it. To create the coins I duplicated the rainbow added CC toner to make it gold, then CC ball action to create the coin shapes and finally glow to give it some sparkle. The last step was to add a mask so that the coins didn't show thru the whole scene.

3. For the second scene I created the cloud background with the same technique as Scene 1...the only difference being that everything is stationary. I imported Money Element 1 and Nature Element 8. I layered the 2 files added the animated texture to the rainbow and then added a glow effect to the coins.

4. For the last scene I used Money Element 3 for the terrain, Money Element 4 for the Pot Of Gold, Nature Element 6 for the rainbow flowing into the pot, Nature Element 7 for the first rainbow that wraps around the last clover., Nature Element 8 for the rainbow with the Motion graphics Lab logo on it and last but not least the un folding clover from Nature Element 9. To warp the first rainbow I added the Ripple Effect to it. The terrain is masked and scaled to create the hills. I rendered out 1 frame of it as a PSD and brought it back in for the scene. The ANVEL logo has a bulge effect added to it so that it seems to be on the pot. I also changed its blend mode to add so that it would pick up some texture from the pot. The clovers are not in 3D space...they are just scaled so that they look like they are in different Z space positions.

5. To make the rainbows loop around the clover I masked out the clover leaves and layered them. The changing depth of field from the clover to the background was done with fast blur.

6. The logo is revealed by duplicating the rainbow placing it above the logo and then track matting the logo to its Alpha Channel.

7. The entire animation took about 3 hours to composite and 15 minutes to render.
